I am scheduled to have my bathroom renovations start the first week in January which means my house is starting to look like a Home Depot as all of the tile and other supplies are delivered. For a brief minute, I did not even want to bother with Christmas decorations. The thought of taking everything out only to put it back immediately after the holiday felt like a lot of work, especially since I have a bit of decision fatigue from planning the bathrooms. I owe Whole Foods a big thank you for placing these table top sized Christmas trees in their entrance. The tree is about 3.5 feet tall, just big enough to decorate in a fun way.
I scooped up a chinoiserie style planter from my parents while they were downsizing. It ended up being JUST the right size to place the tree in! For reference, the planter is about 2.5 feet in diameter at its widest. I have lots of ornaments that I have made, collected, and been gifted over the years. My favorite tree is one that combines personalized ornaments with a few aesthetic ones to create a background theme. I have never been one to buy all new decor every year. Clutter bothers me and I do not want to store too many things in my closets year round!
This step stool lives in my kitchen, I am short and cannot reach the top shelves without it. To give my tiny tree a boost, I placed the planter on top. I love how it all came together! I took my faux fur tree skirt (I purchased this years ago at Pier 1 Imports) and draped it down the stool. Honestly, this might be my favorite tree that I have ever designed. It’s unique, simple, and fun!
For the last bit of flair, I dehydrated orange slices to use as decor. I purchased a few spools of ribbon from Amazon to turn some into ornaments. I really love the burnt orange velvet ribbon. I also used blue satin ribbon for bows and a light blue velvet ribbon for a few of the orange slice ornaments.
Please leave me some tips on how to keep this tree alive until Christmas, this is my first real tree since 2012! Also, I would love to hear about your “non-traditional” ideas for Christmas trees!
