Fall is here! Although summer will always be my favorite season, I do love the cooler weather that fall ushers in. This is mainly because I can wear my “winter” clothes! There are so many fun things to do this time of year. Football is back, school is in session, Halloween is right around the corner…I love it!
I recently went to a concert and decided to make the tailgate a little more fun by mixing up some cocktails. The typical beer and spritzers are great, but it’s always exciting to try something different. The recipes were based off of a pre-made mixer that my sister and I found while wandering around Sur La Table the other day.
Although the mixer is labeled as a moscow mule, I also thought the apple flavor would be a good compliment to a bourbon based drink. I keep a bottle of Woodford Reserve on my bar cart, so I made use of ingredients I already had to create the following:
- 2 ounces of Sur La Table Apple Moscow Mule
- 2 ounces of Woodford Reserve Bourbon
- Olipop Root Beer or Dr. Brown’s Cream Soda
First I filled the glasses with ice. Then, I added the Apple Moscow Mule mixer and Woodford Reserve. Lastly, I filled the glass to the top with Olipop Root Beer (pictured above) and gave it a good stir! I also made this same drink using Dr. Brown’s cream soda in place of the Root Beer. With the cream soda, it was a much richer taste. Choose whatever you would like!
As a garnish, try slicing some apples to create a fanned look. A regular toothpick will hold them together while letting it rest perfectly on the edge of your glass. This takes all of 5 minutes but looks so cute!
As you can see, I also found the cutest Halloween cocktail napkins to bring along. Homegoods and Amazon are both great places to find unique options at an affordable price. I always have some displayed on my bar cart or dining table because they add a fun flair!
