This patio left much to be desired at the point of purchase. A moldy tarp and grill stains adorned what I knew could be transformed into a calm area for morning coffee or al fresco dining. Cleaning up this area allowed me to begin enjoying the golf course views and abundance of Florida wildlife.
This teak set moved with me from my previous home and filled the space perfectly, so I knew it would be staying. I wanted to do something fun that would also age well. I looked at standard pavers and neutral tiles but while wandering around Lowe’s, this black Della Torre tile caught my eye. Four tiles come together to form a sweet flower which I love. I had the tile installed on the diagonal so that it would draw the eye out towards the golf course. I chose a black grout to help hide the inevitable dirt that accumulates outdoors.
I am proud to admit that I have kept the Fiddle Leaf Fig tree alive for 3 years now, and it compliments the rest of the patio nicely. I picked up a smaller planter in a soft blue tone which is now home to a Watermelon Peperomia. I highly recommend both as low maintenance options for house plants.
For the paint, I chose a cool blue-gray color called North Star by Sherwin Williams. This hue against a black tile and black window frames provided the modern update the space needed. I refreshed the patio after having new windows installed so there was a fair amount of stucco work that needed to be covered up. One coat of primer and one coat of paint provided all the coverage that was needed.
I shopped my home for the rest of my decor so overall, this project was an affordable upgrade. I had some throw pillows, a garden stool, and plenty of serveware laying around to make the space cozy and functional. I was so happy with how it came together that it really inspired me to step outside my comfort zone on the projects that followed suit!
